Visiting Bridal Salons in the Bay Area

The Bella Bride Bridal Salon Today I met with the ladies of The Bella Bride in San Francisco. Pleasantly located on Steiner street, this beautiful boutique is suited for any bride. It is nestled in a centrally located area in the Fillmore Shopping District, near Pacific Heights and Japan Town.

They carry a wide variety of different designers such as Pronovias, La Sposa, L’ezu Atelier, Cymbelin, Simone Carvali and Eli Saab. Not only do they carry many different styles of gowns, you will also find unique accessories from Stephanie Browne Australia. This is a great one stop shop to find the perfect head piece, veil, and jewelry to compliment your beautiful wedding gown.

In my observance at the Salon, I was intrigued by the fact that every bride that walked through the door, was looking for something different than the next. They were all looking for different styles, silhouettes, and overall different looks to match their particular venue, time of year, etc. It was interesting yet exciting to see the moment where a bride comes in, tries her dream dress and falls in love! It is such a great moment to be a part of.

The owner Yvonne, being a designer herself, explains in great detail what changes can be made to a gown that will personalize the style and personality of each gown that compliments the bride in the best way possible. Many customizing changes can be made such as adding some beading and/or lace, changing the fabric, or changing the neckline. The greatest thing about the option to customize, is you can make certain that no one else will ever have YOUR gown!

Veil or no Veil?

To wear a veil or not to wear a veil. That is the question…

Okay, so you might have noticed that it is becoming less of a tradition and more of an accessory. What is this I speak of?  The veil- A classic tradition that is used in many cultures around the world.  One might see it as symbolic or a mandatory requirement, and in many religions this is true.

If you are what we call a “modern day” or “non-traditional” bride, you might want to opt for something a little less traditional and something more modern.  Also, you may want to consider your venue, the time of day your wedding will take place, and most importantly, your personality.  There are many different lengths and styles of veils.  This style should be determined based on the style of your gown, your venue or maybe even your height.  Long veils are great for outdoors because they flow in the breeze, and also in a traditional setting like a church or chapel.

In determining if whether you should wear a veil, be open minded but keep to being you! If you don’t want one, don’t wear one. Having a beach wedding? Throw in a no fuss flower with your swept up lightly pinned flowy hair. Are you daring? How about you make a statement with a really cool feather piece accompanied by a bird cage! OH! I said it. The bird cage- which brings me to my next point.

The bird cage is often called a veil and could be worn in numerous ways.  The reason it is classified in the veil category, is simply because it could be worn to cover your entire face.  Other brides will wear it covering one eye, or just below the nose. It is typically made of Russian netting and a scalloped edge. This veil does not get “lifted” at the ceremony because its usually pinned in really good! If you want that whole “ahhhh” moment, you might want to consider a traditional veil.

My point is, do not feel obligated as a bride to have to wear a veil unless it is mandatory or your mother really really really wants you to.  It is becoming more and more common to not wear one.  Whatever you decide, just know that you are going to make the most beautiful bride. Cheers!

What is Weddingism?

What is weddingism?

Weddingism can be many things.

Weddingism is a new company tackling the world of wedding fashions. Weddingism is a way of thinking, it’s a way of seeing the world.

Weddingism is the idea that weddings are and always will be the most important event of a woman’s life (hopefully a man’s too). Weddingism is a lifestyle choice, a woman who chooses to be independent in her way of thinking and who’s individualism resounds.

Weddingism is also a collection of wedding beliefs, values and pieces of wisdom. We will be sharing our Weddingisms throughout our adventures with you.

But most importantly, Weddingism is all about fun and enjoying life, and the process of weddings. We hope to get to know every bride that stops by our little corner of the web, and we want to welcome you from the bottom of our hearts.

Together we can make Weddingism’s dream come true: to become the number 1 place for wedding fashions on the internet.
